1961 Veterans Day Ceremonies At Arlington National Cemetery Amphilatheater [SIC] (John Ralston - ABC News & Special Events)
No description at the National Archives but this is an ABC TV News special, broadcasting from Arlington National Cemetery. JFK participates in a Veterans Day ceremony at The Memorial Amphitheater at Arlington National Cemetery.
President Kennedy's speech starts about 15 minutes into the ceremony. There is a "fast fact" about this visit at the JFK Library.
Other dignitaries/participants: MSgt. William S. Rigsby (sp?); Sgt. George Meyers (sp?), Bugler, U.S. Army Band; Chief of Chaplains of the United States Air Force, Brig. Gen. Terence P. Finnegan; The Administrator of Veterans Affairs, John S. Gleason, Jr.; Maj. Gen. Paul A. Gavan, Commanding General of the Military District of Washington; Thomas Sterling, Commander of the Legion of Valor, and Sidney Hantman, DSC, Chairman of the Veterans Day Committee and member of the Legion of Valor.
The National Archives has the ABC News correspondent as "John Ralston" but I think that is incorrect. (?)
